I am an attorney and entrepreneur currently living and practicing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a lawyer, I have counseled individuals and companies in startup, corporate, commercial, intellectual property, immigration, and civil litigation matters. In 2018, I decided that it was time to build my own law practice and see where it takes me. I set it up in San Juan, initially focusing on corporate and notarial law, while gradually scaling and building capacity to attend immigration, privacy, and other topics. I appreciate it when people send me clients, as word of mouth is primarily how I grow my practice. So, feel free to contact me to discuss your legal needs.
Additionally, I’ve been the Chief Operating Officer of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology, and Research Trust, a nonprofit with a mission to invest, facilitate and build capacity to continually advance Puerto Rico’s economy and its citizens’ well-being through innovation-driven enterprises, science and technology and its industrial base. Previously I was its Acting Director, reorganizing its administrative and operational structure while leading the launch of several of its flagship programs. While at the Trust, I oversaw the launch of initiatives such as the Research Grants RFP, the Puerto Rico Consortium for Clinical Investigation, the Puerto Rico Center for Tropical Biodiversity and Bioprospecting, and others.
While in the Trust, I collaborated in the creation of Parallel18, a global science and technology startup accelerator which now has a portfolio of 100+ Seed/Series A companies from over 40 countries in different industries, and which have collectively raised over $40M in venture capital funding from global investors. I was also the Chairman of its Investment Committee.
From the government side, I was Under Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce of Puerto Rico, where I was in charge of several strategic projects.
As an individual, I’ve worked extensively on Puerto Rico’s grassroots startup ecosystem, including as a judge and advisor in Startup Weekend, as one of the founding organizers of TEDxSanJuan, and as former President of the Corporate Law Commission of the Puerto Rico Bar Association.
